Early History
As a young man, Medivh fell into a coma after his immense magical powers manifested. During this time, the dark influence of Sargeras grew stronger within him. Upon awakening, Medivh became the Guardian, but his inner turmoil continued to build. He eventually forged an alliance with Gul'dan, a powerful orc warlock, to open the Dark Portal, unleashing the Horde upon Azeroth and starting the First War. His betrayal would lead to the fall of the human kingdom of Stormwind and plunge the world into chaos.Medivh's Fall
Despite the devastation he caused, Medivh’s story is not one of pure villainy. He was ultimately a victim of Sargeras's manipulation, and his actions were influenced by the dark presence that had controlled him for most of his life. Medivh’s former apprentice, Khadgar, alongside Anduin Lothar and Garona Halforcen, eventually confronted and killed Medivh, freeing him from Sargeras's control. In death, Medivh's story did not end. He returned during the events leading up to the Third War, offering guidance to Thrall, Jaina Proudmoore, and the other leaders of Azeroth in their fight against the Burning Legion. His mysterious return as "The Prophet" highlighted the complexity of his character—a former villain seeking redemption by helping to save the world he once endangered.
Medivh’s legacy is one of both tragedy and redemption. Though he unleashed a great evil upon the world, his later actions helped to save it. His role in Azeroth’s history is a reminder that even the most powerful individuals can be fallible, but also capable of great good when given the chance to make amends.
